Al di Meola, award-giving of Erasure
and Joe Cocker
Al di Meola came by whenever he was in town, and was even going to come to my exhibition in New York, were it not for his (and a few hundred other's) invitations conveniently getting ''lost'' somewhere in the abyss of the Hungarian postal system... oh well. Al has played with Stanley Clarke, Chick Corea and John McLaughlin, just to name a few.
Erasure, along with Vince Clarke (also of Depeche Mode/Yazoo fame) and singer Andy Bell, held their golden record award ceremony at our restaurant (their management organized it there on the band's request). The prestigious award for "I love Saturday" marked Erasure's peak as a popular band of the 1980's. Left: The album artwork.
Joe Cocker told us of his many adventures in show business, from dive bar stories featuring Jimmy Page to the time he was to play Woodstock and Eric Clapton, who was on before him, told Cocker to only set foot on the stage when he calls him... A very special evening for us. from left; Me, Tim Dowdall from Live Nation, Marta, Laszló Hegedüs and friend
